Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

STUDENTS - Just a reminder that all fees must be paid before the last week of school in order to receive your report cards or schedule for next year. . If you have any questions, please see the Bookkeeper in the Main Office. (Tu, Th) – L. Amos

Students who need to pick up or purchase the 2013 Oak Log yearbook need to see Mrs. Schmidt BEFORE homeroom starting at 7:30 a.m. or AFTER school from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday in room CS331. Yearbooks cost $55.00 and are in limited supply. They will be sold on a first-come first-served basis for those who have not pre-ordered. We cannot make reservations at this time. (Tu-F) – W. How would you like to win $100 cash? During the month of May, the Wildcat Credit Union will be issuing special “End-of-the-Year” cards. The student with the most punches (a minimum of 20) will receive the $100 cash prize. Punches will be based on the same criteria as April’s promotion. If there is a tie, the $100 will be divided equally. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 16.  Visit the Wildcat Credit Union in the Food Court during lunch today or Thursday to learn more! Thank you to every student and teacher who donated your spare change during Key Club’s fund raiser to buy clothes for Afghan orphans. Because of your generosity, we were able to buy twenty-nine pairs of shoes and one-hundred eighteen pieces of clothing, which are already on their way to the children who so desperately need them.  Congratulations and thanks to Ms. Whitaker’s homeroom for raising the most money. The homeroom won a Krispy Kreme breakfast which was delivered to them Monday morning. (Tu) – B. Jernigan

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll laugh again at the Wild CATS. Oak Ridge High School’s talented students and staff will be together on stage at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center, 7pm, Saturday, May 18th. This is no ordinary talent show! It's WildCATS - The Wild Curiously Awesome Talent Showcase. Tickets are available at the door for $5. Proceeds go to the ORHS Campus Improvement Fund. (Tu-F) – B. Adler

Rental calculator collection begins next week. Be sure you have the cover and that your batteries work. All SENIORS will return calculators on Tuesday, May 21. Juniors: Petitions for the Senior Steering Committee elections are now available. You may pick up a petition from Ms. Carneim (CS 237), Ms. Henry (CS 232) or Ms. Sobek (LC217). All petitions are due back Ms. Henry or Ms. Carneim by 3:10 pm on Friday. (Tu) – T. Carneim

ll former Linden Elementary School students who are graduating seniors - Come and join your Linden classmates and teachers for a fun hour of reminiscing about your elementary years. The celebration will be held in the Linden Cafeteria on Tuesday, May 21 at 4:30. (Tu, Th 5.21)

The Children's Museum of Oak Ridge is currently looking for volunteer assistance with this year's "Imagination Station Summer Camps." Camps begin on June 10th and end on August 7th, a total of seven weeks. More information can be found at childrensmuseumofoakridge.org, along with the forms for prospective volunteers. Seniors: Tassel are now available in CS347. They are $8.75 each. Bring exactly $8.75 or a check made payable to Jostens. Change is not provided. (Tu) T. Ledden

The early Graduation Celebration registration deadline is Wednesday, May 15. If you register early, you are entered to win a big prize! If you miss the deadline, you can still register until the day of graduation, but why wait? Turn your yellow form into Ms. Wilson in Student Affairs or at the Civic Center desk by Wednesday night at 10pm. (Tu,Th) – M. Reedy 

SPORTS INFO

If you are interested in playing Golf next year stop by the main office to sign up. An interest meeting will be held Tuesday, May 14th , 4:30 at Oak Ridge Country Club to discuss upcoming try-outs and plans for the season. (Tu, Th) – R. Sumner

 

Any student interested in trying out for the Boys JV or Varsity Basketball Team for next season should plan on trying out on Tuesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 16th in Wildcat Arena from 3:00-4:30pm. This will be the only opportunity to try-out for the team. Anyone planning on trying out for the team should have a physical completed and turned in to Coach Green prior to try-outs. You can pick up a physical form in the file folder on the wall outside of Coach Green's office in Wildcat Arena. See Coach Green if you have any questions. (Tu, Th 5.16)

Girls Basketball Tryouts will be held on Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21, in the Wildcat Arena from 3:00 – 5:00 and is open to anyone interested in playing next year. (Th, Th 5.21
