Recycling is this Thursday. All recycling committee members should report to the bus loop lobby after checking in with their homeroom teachers. Recycling committee members who are taking an AP test will not participate in recycling on Thursday. (Th) – H. Haynes
JUNIORS! Are you interested in helping plan your Sr. Breakfast? Do you have ideas for the Senior slideshow or Senior song? If so, stop by Mrs. Kile or Mrs. Henry’s rooms (CS 228 or CS 232) sometime this week to pick up a petition for next year’s Senior Steering. Petitions are due back to Mrs. Henry by Wednesday, May 16. Congratulations to Thomas Cox who broke the single-season hits record for ORHS this weekend in District Tournament play. Thomas has accumulated 51 hits over the course of 33 games this season. The baseball team beat Clinton and Halls this weekend, and will play Hardin Valley on Tuesday at Halls at 7:30 in the winners’ bracket final of the double-elimination tournament. (W) – T. Froning

Jada Johnson from the University of Tennessee VolsTeach program will be presenting in the Combined Studies room (LC 327) this Wednesday after school, beginning at about 1:45. The Criminal Justice Club will meet on Tuesday, May 8 at 3:15. The meeting will go until approximately 4:00. We will meet in the media center conference room. All Seniors interested in SCUBA Diving at Graduation Celebration need to pick up a SCUBA packet from Student Affairs. Space is limited. Additional information will be provided to those students that turn in paperwork by the May 25th deadline. Graduation Celebration and SCUBA diving are FREE events that will take place on May 31st at the Civic Center. All Oak Ridge graduates are eligible to attend. Seniors are also reminded to turn in the yellow permission forms by May 15th if possible. (M. Reedy) - W

Youth Advisory Board - UPCOMING EVENTS
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is currently accepting applications for the 2012-2013 YAB Election. Applications are due June 1, 2012. Sixteen applicants will be confirmed and appointed by City Council to serve a one-year term of office that commences on August 1, 2012. To be considered, applicants must be residents of Oak Ridge and entering grade levels 8th through 12th. Participation on the YAB requires attendance at bi-monthly meetings on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m., as well as at special events that are held throughout the year. All interested students are encouraged to fill out the new, on-line application which is available on the City Clerk’s Departmental Website or at http://tiny.cc/yab. Paper applications are available in the Student Services Office at Oak Ridge High School, and at the front desk of the Civic Center. (Tu, Th)
