FREE SPORTS PHYSICAL CLINIC - SUNDAY, APRIL 29 - Methodist Medical Physical Therapy Center for any student planning on participating in High School sports next year. Students are reminded that they must have a sports physical dated after April 15 to be able to participate in any ORHS Athletic program next year. Hours for this clinic are as follows: 1:00 - Upcoming Seniors 1:30 - Upcoming Juniors 2:00 - Upcoming Sophomores 2:30 - Upcoming Freshmen Be sure to bring your completed physical form to the clinic with you. Forms are available in the Main Office and from the coaches.
Are you interested in Materials Science? Want to find out what things are made of? The 2012 Materials Science Camp at Oak Ridge Y-12 might be for you! The camp is FREE from June 18-22, 2012. Scholars’ Bowl Team, remember the Great Auk competition scheduled for this Wednesday, April 25th, to be held in LC330 at 1:50pm. We need all members to attend to better our chances for victory in this computer-based competition, and we will hold officer elections for next year’s team. Bring your own snacks! (W) – K. Senter

Are you interested or think you might be interested in running for Sophomore, Junior, Senior Class officer or for Student Council officer or are interested in serving on a Student Council committee? Then mark your calendar for Thursday morning April 26th at 7:15 am for the Leadership Breakfast held in the Combined Studies Room, LC 327. Seniors interested in having awards and/or scholarship information printed in the commencement program may pick up a worksheet from your homeroom teacher or in the main office. The City Youth Advisory Board is hosting a Summer Jobs & Career Fair for Teens on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Oak Ridge High School Café. The event will introduce students to possible summer job opportunities, future careers, and to potential colleges as well. Students that attend will be eligible to win door prizes that include a laptop, a Nook Color, and (2) $50 gas gift cards. The current list of vendors includes City of Oak Ridge, Y-12 FCU, Chick-Fil-A, Y-12 Girls in Engineering, King College, Razzleberry’s, RecruitWise, Girl Scouts, Food City, Methodist Medical Center, and Girls Inc. The City of Oak Ridge will be recruiting young people who might be interested in careers in Police, Fire, Lifeguarding, Utility work, and Summer Camps. (Tu, W)
The City Youth Advisory Board is hosting a "Battle of the Teen Bands" at 6 p.m. at the A.K. Bissell Park Pavilion on Friday night, April 27, 2012. The pavilion is located behind the Oak Ridge Civic Center. The musical competition will feature local bands and groups vying for prizes and the honor of being named B.O.B. Champion. Admission is free, and concessions will be sold by Razzleberry’s. All band members must be under the age of 21 and a registration fee of $20 must be paid by the April 18, 2012. For Students of Color who will be in Grades 10-12 next year: The Knoxville Area Urban League is accepting applications for the National Achievers Society. This prestigious honor society is open to students of color who will be in grades 10-12 in the fall of 2012 and have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA. Come by guidance to see your counselor if you are interested in applying. The deadline is April 27, 2012. (Tu) – D. Sorensen

Seniors: Mrs. Ledden has a few announcements left for $1 each. These are sold on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone. Announcements can still be ordered online at jostens.com until they run out. Those seniors who have not picked up graduations supplies—please do so this week.
