Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Atomic Prom will take place on Sat April 28th tickets will be sold April 24th-27th.  Couples will be $75 and singles will be $38.  If your date does not attend ORHS you will need to pick up a Guest Application from Ms. Eidam in LC 313. (Th) – S. Eidam

Atomic Prom- Seniors you will be nominating Prom King and Queen candidates in your English classes this week.  All Juniors and Seniors will vote for King and Queen in their homerooms next week. (F) – S. Eidam

Prom Proposal Contest- If you would like to win a free pair of tickets to the Atomic Prom and you asked your date to prom in a creative way please send pictures or video and a short explanation of your creativity to Ms. Eidam in LC 313 by April 19th. (M) – S. Eidam

If you are bringing a guest to the  Junior-Senior prom who does not go to the Oak Ridge High School you must register your guest in the Student Services Office no later than Friday, April 20th. (Tu, Th) – C. Wilson

Youth for Christ movie night Friday 6 pm. Pick up permission forms from Mr. Fuhrman in CS 339 or from Dakota. (F) – K. Ellis

The Pokemon League of ORHS will meet next Thursday, April 26th from 3-4 p.m. (Th) – C. Roop

Students participating in the Day of Silence tomorrow, Friday, should gather in the Arena Lobby at 7:30 am to begin the day. Only students who have signed up with one of the Gay Straight Alliance teacher sponsors and who have checked with their teachers ahead of time should be participating. (Th) – B. Adler

 

 

Are you interested or think you might be interested in running for Sophomore, Junior, Senior Class officer or for Student Council officer or are interested in serving on a Student Council committee?  Then mark your calendar for Thursday morning April 26th at 7:15 am for the Leadership Breakfast held in the Combined Studies Room, LC 327.  This is an opportunity to learn about leadership positions and pick up your petition to run for office while enjoying a delicious chic-fli-a breakfast. (Tu, Th)

This week is mid-terms, but the letters won't be mailed home until next week.  Do you need help?  See the National Honor Society tutors in the Guidance Office from 3:00-3:45.  Tuesday's tutors are Rebecca Carlson and Brandee Chain.  Thursday's tutors are Austin McWhirter, Samiha Ahsan, and Justin Broughton. Seniors interested in having awards and/or scholarship information printed in the commencement program may pick up a worksheet from your homeroom teacher or in the main office. Worksheets may be returned to homeroom teacher or Mrs. Sumner in the main office by Monday, April 30th.  (Tu,Th 4.30) R. Sumner

 

SENIOR INFO

Seniors: You may pick up graduation supplies in CS347. Exact cash or a check made payable to Jostens is required for supplies with a balance due. Announcements are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $1 each. Extra tassels will be available for purchase soon. (F) – T. Ledden

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

BOYS BASKETBALL Tryouts - JV & Varsity – Wednesday 5/16 – Wildcat Arena This will be the ONLY try out available for this upcoming basketball season 2012-2013.  Each participant must have a sports physical dated after April 30, 2012 to be able to participate in try-outs and spring practice. The City Youth Advisory Board is hosting a Summer Jobs & Career Fair for Teens on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Oak Ridge High School Café.  The event will introduce students to possible summer job opportunities, future careers, and to potential colleges as well.  Students that attend will be eligible to win door prizes that include a laptop, a Nook Color, and (2) $50 gas gift cards.  The current list of vendors includes City of Oak Ridge, Y-12 FCU, Chick-Fil-A, Y-12 Girls in Engineering, King College, Razzleberry’s, RecruitWise, Girl Scouts, Food City, Methodist Medical Center, and Girls Inc. The City of Oak Ridge will be recruiting young people who might be interested in careers in Police, Fire, Lifeguarding, Utility work, and Summer Camps.  (Th,Tu, W 4.25)
