Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

AP Econ Students:  Remember the admired names on Mrs. Bauman’s ceiling?  Do you want to have your name there for all to admire??  Then come to Mrs. Bauman’s AP reviews!  Monday and Tuesday after school, Tuesday during 5th lunch for micro and Macro review on Thursday during 5th lunch and after school.  (Tu) – B. The Troubadour Club (Songwriting Club) will meet in Mrs. Byrd’s room (LC333) on Wednesday at 2 pm. (W) – B. Byrd

The Secular Student Association will be meeting after school every Thursday in LC110.  Everyone is welcome.  Come and find out what the newest ORHS club is all about! (W) – S. Thomas

This week is mid-terms, but the letters won't be mailed home until next week.  Do you need help?  See the National Honor Society tutors in the Guidance Office from 3:00-3:45.  Tuesday's tutors are Rebecca Carlson and Brandee Chain.  Thursday's tutors are Austin McWhirter, Samiha Ahsan, and Justin Broughton. Students interested in participating in this year’s Day of Silence on this Friday, April 20th, must sign up with either Ms. Adler, Mr.Koehler, Ms. Sobek, or Ms.Goepfert by Wednesday, April 18th. Upon signing up, you will be given a Day of Silence Card and asked to discuss your participation with each of your teachers by this Thursday. Participating students will be meeting at 7:30am Friday morning in the Arena. (W) – B. Adler

GUIDANCE INFO 

Blacks in Government (BIG) is offering two types of scholarship and students are allowed to apply for only one type.  The two types are: 1) Academic Excellence Scholarship – based primarily on their scholastic achievements in high school.  Financial status is not a factor for this award, 2) Financial Need Scholarship – based up financial status and greatest need.  Students must be a US citizen and a resident of Knoxville, Anderson, or Roane County to apply.  BIG’s goal is to promote equity in all aspects of American life, excellence in public service, and opportunity for all Americans.  The deadline to postmark the application is April 30, 2012.  Please see Ms. Green in the School Counseling office to pick up an application. For Students of Color who will be in Grades 10-12 next year:  The Knoxville Area Urban League is accepting applications for the National Achievers Society.  This prestigious honor society is open to students of color who will be in grades 10-12 in the fall of 2012 and have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.  Come by guidance to see your counselor if you are interested in applying.  The deadline is April 27, 2012. SENIOR INFO

Seniors: Graduation supplies will not be available for pickup until Thursday, April 19th. Announcements may also be purchased again beginning on Thursday for $1 each. (W) – T. Ledden

Last chance sale for this year's yearbook!!! April 19th!!! Make sure you have a copy of the yearbook! Come by the arena kiosk on April 19th before school, during lunch, or after school to purchase your copy of this year's Oak Log for $55.00. If you are bringing a guest to the  Junior-Senior prom who does not go to the Oak Ridge High School you must register your guest in the Student Services Office no later than Friday, April 20th. (Tu, Th) – C. Wilson

The girls’ basketball team will be sponsoring Soles4 Souls. Anyone interesting in donating their old shoes please place them in one of the bins located around school or contact Coach Karra Jackson. (xTu) – K. Jackson

Seniors interested in having awards and/or scholarship information printed in the commencement program may pick up a worksheet from your homeroom teacher or in the main office.
